Update on Taiwan’s 2010 Rice CSQ SBS
Taiwan successfully tendered 3,200 tons of U.S. rice under the SBS tendering system. This completes the tendering for the 2010 U.S. rice CSQ SBS allocation and represents a total completion rate of 14 percent of the total 2010 U.S. rice CSQ that includes traditional and SBS tendering schemes. As of April 2, Taiwan has completed tenders for 24,200 tons or 25.7 percent of its 2010 rice CSQ all under the SBS scheme, including. 9,200 tons of U.S, rice, 6,000 tons of Thai rice, 6,500 tons of globalized Australian rice, and 2,500 tons of Egyptian rice.

Tender completed on April 2.
Thirteen bidders participated in the bid, of which five were successful. One successful bidder received 420 tons at NT$6.338/kg ($199.43/mt) while the other four successful bidders secured the remaining 2,780 tons at NT$5.629/kg ($177.12/mt).

GF4-990-042 for 6,000 tons Australia-origin
Failed second tendering.
One bidder participated in the biding for 260 tons at NT$1.501/kg ($47.23/mt), but was not successful because the bid was below the pre-set floor price.
Date for third tendering is to be announced.

GF4-990-043-1 for 1,000 tons Thailand-origin
The tender completed April 2.
Three out of fifteen bidders participated in the bid were successful, one bidder received 260 tons at NT$8.603/kg ($270.70/mt) and the other two successful bidders received 190 tons and 550 tons, respectively, at the price of NT$8.102/kg ($254.94/mt).

GF4-990044 for 2,500 tons of Egypt-origin
Tender completed on April 2.
2,500 tons were awarded to 5 out of 9 bidders. One bidder received 690 tons, while another bidder received 160 tons, and the remaining three bidders received 550 tons each, at the same price of NT$4.188/kg ($131.78/mt).
