Liberia: Where is the Open Rice Market?
Thoug the government has assured Liberians about its ability to stop monopoly especially in the area of rice importation, who are stopping some potential rice importers while the Sinkor Trading Company continues to be sol importer of rice on the Liberian market.

Information gathered by this paper recently from some dealers of rice in the Liberian Society revealed that there are some interfering in the rice market by the Liberian government. James Momoh of Duala, Bushrod Island said that the government through the Commerce Ministry has its own stick she is using to stop other from importing rice.

He pointed fingers at the Sinkor Trading Company or OLAM that the Ellen led government is using to stop other potential importers of rice.

Though he refused to name those potential importers of rice, he accused the government of been Public Relation Arm for the Sinkor Trading Company.

"Government has it own stick and operating as business where it has a company which is almost serving as public relation arm for said company," he said. He said the government made statement for the Sinkor Trading Company which even does not have a office in the country.

He added that government made statement also justifying that STC is the only company being allowed to operate in the country on rice importation issue . Mr. Kamara Dossie who is also a rice dealer accused the government of still holding on Monopoly by introducing biding process into the rice market.

He said there are potential Liberians who have been denied by the Commerce Ministry from importing rice into the country.

Mr. Dossie stressed that the Minister of Commerce, Madam Olubanke King Akeree has put procedures at the Ministry just to deny potential people of not importing rice and only allow OLAM to import rice.

He said this is a form of monopoly questioning the credibility of the government on the line of level plain field.
