India Wheat prices fall
New Delhi: After witnessing persistent rise, wheat prices started falling on the wholesale grains and pulses market during the period largely on increased selling by stockists after government decided to import the commodity and lost some ground.

Other grains such as bajra and maize were also in weak form owing to poor offtake by consuming industries.

Traders said low down in buying by rolling flourmills too helped prices to come down.

Wheat dara (for mills) turned weak and prices dropped gradually to Rs 810-812 per quintal before winding up at Rs 830-835 per quintal against last close of Rs 840-845.

Wheat MP (deshi) also declined to Rs 1240-1440 per quintal from Rs 1250-1450. Bajra and maize also showed weakness and declined to Rs 665-670 and Rs 695-700 a quintal from Rs 675-680 and Rs 705-710.

Among pulses, Urad Maharastra and Rangoon were subdued at Rs 3450-3550 and Rs 3300-3320 per quintal respectively against last week's closing of Rs 3600-3700 and Rs 3400-3410.

Arhar Maharashtra met with stockists selling and lost sizeable ground to close at Rs 1950-1975 per quintal but Arhar (Karnataka) remained flat at Rs 1925-1975 per quintal on some deals.

However, gram and its dal were strong after reports of fall in production and ended sharply higher at Rs 2300-2320 and Rs 2550-2575 per quintal respectively
