SunRice Announces Restructure Proposal to Members
SunRice Announces Restructure Proposal to Members SunRice, a leading Australian exporter of branded rice food products, today announced a proposal to restructure the business from a co-operative to a company.

"The new structure leaves control firmly in the hands of Active growers and gives the opportunity to recognise Members for their support and contributions," said Mr Gerry Lawson, Chairman, SunRice.

Mr Lawson told members of SunRice that the conversion to a company would play a pivotal role in the ongoing development of SunRice and continue its strong growth.

"Over the past 50 years, SunRice has become successful through a deliberate path of innovation and change. We have evolved beyond the growing, processing and marketing of an agricultural commodity, to a global business that exports value-added rice food products around the world."

"The conversion to a company is an important step in the evolution of our business and will provide the platform for growth and prosperity for the benefit of Members. This proposal also provides a more secure capital base and improved financial flexibility for SunRice,"said Mr Lawson.

The proposed company will have A Class and B Class Shares. A Class Shares will carry the voting rights, and will be held by Active Growers – guaranteeing continued Grower control of the company by Australia’s rice growers. B Class Shares will be non-voting, dividend shares and will be held by Active Growers and Ex-Growers.
