UAF develops technology for higher rice yield

FAISALABAD: Scientists of University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) have claimed they have succeeded in developing a new method to increase rice yield by using a new skill known as parachute technology, Daily Times learnt on Tuesday. The UAF had set up a laboratory of parachute technology for growing rice some months back at the agronomy farm in Faisalabad and Dr Ishfaq Ahmed, the dean of the agriculture faculty, had been appointed as the director of the laboratory. The university scientists were assigned the task to check the new technology that could meet the challenges of the new era. Dr Ahmed said that after the experiments carried out in the laboratory they have claimed that the new technology would help the growers to enhance their production as compare to the past. “We had adopted this technology from China as they had been using this comprehensive technology from many years,” Mr Ishfaq said. Posting and transfers: Brigadier Tariq Rasool, the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company chief executive, has issued orders for transfer and postings of deputy managers and assistant managers on Tuesday. Rana Munawar Ahmed has been appointed as marketing director, Rana Zafar Ali, the deputy manager of the Ghulam Mohammadabad division has been posted as director planning, Malik Nazar Awan, DM planning has been posted as deputy director safety and Toufeeq Ahmed Khan, the DM technical has been appointed at the Ghulam Mohammadabad division. Four assistant managers including Ghulam Abbas of Civil Lines sub division has been transferred to factory area, Mohammad Nawaz from Khurrianwala to civil lines and Mohammad Rashid from factory area have been appointed as assistant manager of Khurrainwala sub division. All officials have taken charge of their respective offices.
