Wheat - Weekly Inspection report
CBOT, April 2, 2004
Mondays weekly export inspection report showed 23.4 m.b. were inspected for near term export up fro 15.2 the week prior. Inspections are up 216 m.b. on the year. The overall number on the week is a positive demand signal considering our lofty prices last week. Thursdays weekly export sales report showed 166 t.t. of wheat was sold last week off 76% from the week prior and 71% under the four week average. This was credited to contract high prices last week before our drop. The acreage report showed all wheat variety acres at 59.5 m.a. a 4% decline from the year prior and in line with expectations. Winter wheat states Texas and Colorado look to receive good rains over the weekend but Kansas and Nebraska look dry. Kansas crop ratings dropped last week so, rain is needed badly now as emergence enters. Spring wheat wont go to seed until late April. Don't buy July wheat unless a close over 4.22 happens. If your long buy a M ay 4.00 put for 8 cents as insurance. Demand remains weak so weather on emerging winter wheat is wheat's best hope for a rally. On Monday we turn to WXRISK.COM for the weeks weather . If dryness is called for we buy with 10 cent stops or puts to protect.
