Wheat - Weekly export inspection report
CBOT, March 29, 2004
The weekly export inspection report came in at 23.4 m.b. up from 15.2 the week prior but under a year ago of 25.2 year to date inspection are 925 m.b. versus 709 a year ago. It's a good number considering wheat's lofty prices but wheat's still sour from losing the Iraq business last week. Today's lower trade came as weather forecasts call for rain across or winter wheat belt late week as crops emerge. Additionally, the weekend brought rain to Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma and with funds long over 40 thousand contracts they took some to the bank. The governments N.O.A.A. weather service calls for normal to above normal wheat belt rains on it's 10 day outlook. Go to WXRISK.COM for day to day updates. May support lies at 4.00 and July 4.05. Wednesday acreage report calls all winter wheat acreage at 43.5 m.a. down from 44.9 last year. This is the average guess. All wheat including spring and durum looks to be 59.8 m.a. versus 61.7 last year. The market will trade any surprises. Longs going into the report should consider the May 3.95 put at 9 cents or 450 dollars as insurance. Aside of the reports influence the weather pattern looks bearish.
