Corn - Weekly export inspection report
CBOT, March 29, 2004
Corn started with our weekly export inspection report showing m export, down from 32.7 m.b. of corn was inspected for near term export, down from 42.5 the week prior but over a year ago of 31 m.b. year todate inspections are 1.075 b.b. versus 851 m.b. a year ago. It's a neutral number as last weeks contract highs were sure to cut exports a little. Corn traded both sides of unchanged today, spending most of the day lower as corn remains in a mild price corrections off last weeks contract high. Tuesday looks to be a choppy narrow trading day as traders a wait Wednesdays 7:30am central time U.S.D.A. acreage report. Last years crop was 7807 million acres. The range of guesses are 79.5 to 81 m.a. with an average guess of 80.2 anything under is bullish and over is bearish for Wednesday open. On Thursday the trade will say it's not what year plant, but what you grow. May corn has support at 305, July 3.09, and new crop Dec. at 3.00. Traders long the market should buy the May 3.00 corn put option for 7 cents and hold into Wednesdays report. If the report is bullish, take the option off and hold the futures. If the acreage report is bearish at 2 m.a. or more sell the futures and hold the put for a near term correction.
