Wheat - CBOT analyses report
CBOT, March 17, 2004
Finally, demand returns. After a 30-cent drop into last week's low on poor demand and hard red winter wheat state rains, we came in Monday with a week ahead of dry warm conditions with 80's in Texas and Nebraska seeing 60's by Friday. This brought on talk of lower quality ratings ahead as early emerging wheat after a dry winter is in need of timely rain. Keep a daily monitor on weather from Texas to Nebraska on WXRISK.COM as weather and its impact is 75% of our pricing influence now until harvest begins in May. On the demand front, long time U.S. wheat buyer Egypt came in overnight for 120 t.t. of U.S. wheat. They buy 500 t.t. or more monthly on the world market and this suggests the U.S. became fairly priced on the recent break. Additionally, the United Nations announced a tender to purchase 600 t.t. from the lowest bidder to ship to Iraq. The U.S. could end up being the favorite here. May and July broke through upside resistance with 12-cent gains at midsession. Support on May lies at 3.70 and July 3.68. May resistance is 4.02 with July at 3.98.
