Wheat - Weekly review
Wheat's reports began with Mondays weekly export inspection report showing 15.4 m.b. were inspected for near term export down from 23 the week prior but over a year ago of 9.8. Thursdays weekly export sales report showed 415 t.t. of wheat was sold last week up 23% from the week prior but 6% under our four week average. Next weeks sales will be much larger due to this weeks Chinese business but its priced in. The overall demand numbers look price negative. China announced their long awaited wheat purchases this week and this lift May futures to rally 35 cents off last weeks low but after highs were reached Monday the e market quickly turned the page and saw no new fresh exports on line. If were going to take out our May chart resistance of 4.05 we need new business buy with Australia aggressively selling were pegged to not get the lions share of any new deals. Additionally, the weather is said to be wetter in our western wheat states next week which continues to improve conditions after a very dry winter especially in Texas. We come in Monday and check the western plain winter wheat states weather from Nebraska to Texas. March isn't the key growing month, April and May will determine yields and quality but March is when we break dormancy and after a drier than normal winter wheat will be challenged to find perfect rainfall to bring low winter quality ratings up. First support lies a t3.86 on May then 3.73. Don't buy long unless we move under 3.86 or on a close over resistance of 4.05 next week.
