CBOT - Corn report
CBOT, Jan 26, 2004
Monday Jan. 26 and the markets are closed. Corn started with our weekly export inspection report showing 35.4 m.b. were inspected for near term export, unchanged from the week prior but up from a year ago of 26 m.b. year todate inspection are 745 m.b. year ago. It's a friendly demand signal. The positive news continues to be tightning U.S. and world corn stocks while feedlots populations expand world wide especialy in Asian markets where 72% of our exportable feed grains go annualy. There was some near term news with drought like conditions continueing into Friday over Argentina and talk that the government will announce this week they will ban animal parts in the feedration requirin gmore corn and soymeal to be consumed. The only negative news is the record long position being held by funds estimated to be over 164 thousand contracts. This leaves us open to see some profit taking before month end Friday. Funds can receive bonuses on profits taken before month end or lose them. Near term resistance is 2.84 with my lon gterm goal of 3.05. Support liles at 2.71. Stay long unless a colse under 2.71 accures.
