CBOT - Corn Weekly Review
CBOT - Dec 26, 2003
Friday Dec.26 and this is our weekly review. Corn started Monday with our weekly export inspection report showing 50.7 million bushels of corn was inspected for near term export up from 38.5 on the four week average. This comes as importers get coverage ahead of the traditional U.S. holiday closings. This was our highest number of the year. Additionaly, last years number this week was also the highest of the year. But, the better near and long term export outlook fell to the fear off mad cow disease discovered on a farm in Washington. This has foreign importers banning imports of U.S. meat and that continues to lead to a negative sychology for corn. Corn looks to remain negative on pricing until cattle futures come off limit. Mondays limit expands to 500 points from 300 today. Those who took my advise last week to go short into this weeks holiday were greatly rewarded but chars are looking like a bottom and we have a gap on the charts between 2.38 and 2.43 that could be filled if cattle comes off limit Monday. Start thinking of taking profits. March support lies at 2.26 with resistance at 2.43.
