CBOT - Wheat report
CBOT
Dec 10, 2003 - Wheat spent the day lower awaiting word on new exports an Thursdays crop report. Traders look for a 15 to 25 m.b. cut in our carry over stocks from last months report of 608 m.b. which was under the month prior of 633. Wheat isn't as concerned about inventory as much as demand. The U.S. remains the worlds primary port for wheat as the lower dollars makes or wheat the cheapest value or competing export countries. These are two key countries to watch for our demand and that's Egypt and China. Egypt has been in for 285 t.t. of wheat this week. Traders expect more sales to come as they purchase over 500 t.t. monthly on world markets and were best value. It was confirmed Tuesday China purchased 200t.t. It's been said they have tight stocks and may go from being a exporter of wheat to an importer. This would be huge business for the U.S. but that's to be seen. In the mean time we struggle with the 4.05 to 4.20 area. Each time we push thru 4.00 we find sellers. After hitting 4.05 Aug. 16 we broke to 3.30. Then hit 4.18 Nov. 13 and broke to 3.74 and then hit 4.21 last Thursday only to fall to under 3.90 today. Traders have learned demand evaporates over 4.00 and resurfaces under 3.90. The key to a breakout would be large additional purchases by China and a close over 4021 breaking major resistance, which could then take us at high as 4.65. A close under our major support of 4.00 suggests a test of 3.84 on the charts. Buy the March 4.10 calls around 15 or 16 cents and hold the Jan. puts we gave you for insurance until the volatility calms
