CBOT - Corn weekly updated report
Corn futures closed marginally lower after a quiet day Monday amid light commodity fund selling associated primarily with a lack of fresh news. Pressure stemming from soybeans and wheat helped weigh prices down, traders said.

Corn closed higher Tuesday, with much of the late gains tied to some additional buying interest sparked by a rally in wheat futures. Fundamental support for the rally stemmed from unconfirmed rumors that Russia may have used recently approved G credits to buy as much as 250,000 tons of U.S. corn. Those rumors remained unconfirmed.

Corn rose Wednesday on fund buying, fueled by strong technicals and a pickup in demand, sources said. The ability of the Mar contract to reach a high of $2.48, which is now a triple-top on the charts, sets up a "healthy" technical picture despite the fact that commodity funds hold a strong net long position in the market, one analyst noted.

Corn futures closed higher Friday amid commodity fund and local buying tied to strong demand as well as technical momentum. But overall, it was a quiet day in the corn pit given the Thanksgiving holiday.

CBOT Mar corn ended at $2.48 3/4 a bushel, up 7 3/4c from the Nov. 21 close of $2.41.
