Wheat - weekly export inspection report
CBOT
Wheat reports began with Mondays weekly export inspection report showing 19 m.b. were inspected for near term export versus the four preceeding weeks of 18.8,19.4,19.6 and 18.9. Not much change here, yet year to date inspection are running 98 m.b.over a year ago.
We need 27 m.b. plus to be bullish near term. Our Monday crop condition report came our showing 48% of the crop is in good to excellent condition down 1% from the week prior, off 5% from four weeks ago and 14% under a year ago. The market shrugged it off as were in our weed stage when yields are not determined. They can improve 5 to 10% in one or two weeks in March when we break dormancy.
Thursdays weekly export sales report came in at 1.095 m.t. up from 537 t.t. the week prior and the highest weekly sales number in several years. With wheat prices down 40 cents from our Nov. high, U.S, wheat prices are the cheapest on world ports. Demand should be much improved from here. Support on March wheat lies at 3.74. Consider buying the March 390 call and sell the March 4.40 call and pull in premium. The spread cast is about 13 cents or 650 dollars cost and risk to you. With 50 cents profit potential.
