Russian weekly grain market report
MOSCOW ,Russian grain market trends were largely unchanged from the previous week with most main cereal prices remaining stable in most regions, while rye prices strengthened and barley fell, traders said.
The number of offers for new harvest grains kept growing. Large shipments of feed wheat and barley of over 1,000 tonnes were offered at 2,000-2,100 roubles ($66-69) per tonne EXW in the North Caucasus.
Traders reported some offers of fourth class food wheat at 2,500-2,600 tonnes EXW. But they said producers had not yet set prices for third class food wheat.
Major buyers proposed buying feed barley at 1,800-1,950 roubles per tonne EXW, feed wheat at 1,700-2,100 roubles, fourth class wheat at 2,200-2,400 roubles, and third class at 2,500-2,800 roubles.
Traders expect buyers to raise price levels eventually, as producers consider them too low. They also expect the arrival of buyers from Ukraine, which expects a bad grain crop.
Rye prices kept strengthening, pushed up by strong demand from Ukraine. In most parts of European Russia they rose by 50-150 roubles and traders expect the upward trend to continue.
Ukrainian demand also caused a rise in wheat and rye flour prices.
Sunoil prices rose substantially, but traders expect an increase in cheaper Ukrainian oil imports, which may bring stability to the market.
